Legbar

Purpose: egg production
Egg Production: 4 / wk
Egg Color: light blue
Origin: England
Heritage breed: Yes

The Legbar was developed in England with the goal of producing a prolific egg layer that autosexes. (Autosexing means the males and females are distinguishable upon hatching.) The cream variety of the Legbar lays a light blue to blue-green egg and is becoming quite popular in the U.S. Like the Leghorn (one of the breeds used to produce the Legbar), the Legbar has a slender body. It is recognized as a standard breed in Europe but not the U.S. In addition to cream, the Legar can also be gold, silver, opal or white frost.
