The Amberlink is a hybrid known for its fantastic egg production. It originated in the U.S. in the 1940s and is a cross between a Rhode Island Red hen and a White Plymouth Rock or White Island Red rooster. Booth roosters and hens have cream coloring accented with red plumes, typically on the neck and wings. Amberlink chicks are autosexing: the females have a brown feathering while the males are creamy or white. The Amberlink is quite cold hardy as well as heat tolerant. Before selecting this breed, consider that it does best when allowed to free range somewhat.
